Work community mediation aroused great interest in Uudista ja uudistu exhibition:
From contradictions and speechlessness to the fertile co-operation - Case Lindström Oy.
Work community mediation was for the first time exposed in Uudista ja uudistu exhibition. The great interest became apparent already beforehand as large group of people were signed up. Unfortunately we had to leave many outside.
Seppo Mäki emphasized how expensive conflicts and along with them possible firings, burnouts and bad atmosphere of the work community will become to the organisation.
"Not even a single employee can afford to ignore conflicts.
People work usually at least 8 hours a day and conflicts that really "eat" both men and women become expensive as exhaustion, lack of motivation and difficulty of co-operation."
The greatest interest and enthusiasm were aroused by experiences and results told by personnel manager of Lindström, Kirsti Leino.
According to Kirsti mediation has helped to avoid firings, solve difficult, long term conflicts and results have been clearly visible in the working atmosphere.
Co-operation between subordinates and superiors have become better and in every respect heavy burden has dropped especially off the shoulders of the superior.
There were many people who came to our department to tell us about unhandled frictions in their work community.
It seems to be ever-increasing problem, or more likely a challenge because according to our experience dealt conflict can be an enormous possibility and a learning tool.
